Peperomia Golden Gate is a hybrid of Peperomia Obtusifolia, also known as baby rubber plant or pepper face plant. It is a compact and bushy plant that can grow up to 12 in. tall and wide. It has beautiful variegated leaves that feature green, yellow and cream colors, giving it a striking appearance. It is native to the Caribbean, Central and South America, but can be grown indoors as a houseplant. This plant will need medium to bright indirect light, such as near an east-facing window. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves, and low light, which can reduce the variegation. Water when the top 1 in. to 2 in. of soil feel dry to the touch. Allow excess water to drain out and avoid overwatering, which can cause root rot. Reduce watering frequency in winter. Use well-draining potting mix that contains perlite, or sand for aeration. You can also add some peat moss or coco coir for moisture retention. Feed once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not fertilize in winter. Keep the plant in a warm and humid environment, with temperatures between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
